My name is Guy Ben-Chaim.
Raised in Assen, I always felt the urge to grow not just for myself, but to eventually leave and explore something bigger. So I did. I moved to Zwolle and Deventer to study Media Design & Advertising, and worked my way through the live music scene, starting as a barback at a local venue. Over time, I became a true jack of all trades behind the scenes learning, connecting, creating.
When COVID hit, I returned to Assen, the city I once wanted to outgrow. But instead of seeing it as a step back, I made a decision: if I wanted to grow, so should my city. That became my mission.
I started JongGraan, a recurring event that gives young bands in Drenthe a platform to perform and develop. Around the same time, I co-founded BEGR!P a youth-led organization that uplifts the next generation through events, creative projects, and community building.
Now, with more experience and a stronger vision, I run GUY Backstage Consulting working alongside local government to develop a new youth center in Assen and create lasting infrastructure for the talents of tomorrow. I also launched Please Stand Up, a recurring comedy night, and continue to explore new ideas and formats to energize the local cultural scene.
With passions ranging from tech, music, media, and human connection to arts and hands-on creativity, I still proudly call myself a jack of all trades not just in work, but in life. If you've got passion, I'm here to help make it real. That’s my purpose and what I do best.
