humble beginnings

My first event

Every great journey starts with a leap of faith, ductape, second guesses and maby a tear or two.
For the opening of a the new youth organization " BEGR!P" in the city of Assen I took it upon myself together with one of the other co-founders, "Falco Janssens" to make the first ever event a truly great evening. I layed my focus on the venue, a local youth musicians, graphic design, the presentation, a DJ and making sure the staff would have a good time and food in their belly's.
  • Sound Equipment: Scraping together the essentials, I borrowed, bought and even rented equipment to ensure the live music performances could shine.
  • music: getting a local known band and dj to make sure the vision of BEGR!P was on point.
  • Graphic Design: I personally designed the tickets, custom wristbands and custom hoodies to give the event a professional touch.
  • Multi-Tasking: From making sure the host is inforemed, managing the bar, three music acts, and making sure the presentation would go smooth. I wore many hats to make the night a success.
  • Community Spirit: The event brought together local youth, performers, and volunteers, creating an inspiring atmosphere of collaboration and excitement.
It was a night filled with energy, live music, and camaraderie. Despite the risks of spending a large sum of personal investment, the experience was incredibly rewarding, but I also gained valuable insights and connections that shaped the future of Guy Backstage Consulting.
This event laid the foundation for everything I do today: putting my heart into creating memorable experiences and giving my all to make ideas come to life.

In a city brimming with untapped talent, I saw an opportunity to create something extraordinary—a platform where young, ambitious bands could take their first steps into the spotlight. That’s how Jong Graan was born: not just an event, but a movement fueled by passion, community, and the thrill of discovery.

Jong Graan isn’t your average music night. It’s where raw, unpolished talent meets an eager audience, where every note played on stage is a step toward the future. From intimate venues like Zusjes de Boer to lively nights at cafe new image, these events have become a proving ground for fresh sounds and a vibrant gathering place for music lovers.
But it’s more than just the music. Jong Graan represents my story—an evolution from a dishwasher in Deventer to an event organizer who dreams big and delivers. I find joy in organizing events down to the smallest detail—every schedule, every sound check, every Instagram post designed, every venue prepared. It’s a labor of love, a puzzle I meticulously piece together.
Then comes the moment of letting go. As the lights dim and the first notes echo through the room, I step back. I watch every cog and building block fall into place like a well-oiled machine springing to life. I marvel as people gather, connect, and experience the magic unfolding before their eyes. This is why I do it—to see ideas turn into reality, to bring people together, and to witness the power of creativity in motion.
With every venue filled and every chord played, I’m not just building an event; I’m building a legacy of creativity and connection. So, if you’ve ever wondered where the next generation of bands finds its voice, look no further than Jong Graan. It’s not just a stage—it’s a launchpad for dreams, and I’m proud to stand behind it.
